Maureen T. Lapsa, M.S., CCC-SLP

Maureen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. After working as a pediatric cardiac nurse at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center and teaching in the Nursing Program at Frederick Community College, she returned to school to complete a post-baccalaureate program in Speech Language Pathology. She received a Master's of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland.
Maureen has experience working with both children and adults with motor speech, receptive/expressive language, fluency, auditory processing, executive function and voice impairments. She incorporates her clinical experiences as well as techniques from continuing education courses into her daily treatment with her clients. She utilizes methods such as PROMPT, Sarah Ward Executive Function practices, Social Thinking, Lidcombe Program, Visualizing and Verbalizing, and the EmPower writing program, among others. Although Maureen is fascinated by all dimensions of speech and language, she is extremely interested in apraxia, cognitive development and executive function skills, post-concussion syndrome, literacy and written expression.
Maureen holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association (ASHA), and a state license in Maryland. She is a member of the Maryland Speech Language Hearing Association and sits on the Board of Directors as the Pediatric Chair.
